Kerman
Kerman is another metropolis of Iran, the center of Kerman province and Kerman city. As per the census, the population of this city was 537,718 people in 2016. The area of Kerman is nearly 240 square kilometers, and with an altitude of 1756 meters above sea level, Kerman is the fourth highest province center. People of Kerman speak Farsi, and are ethnically Persian; however, there are also people from the Lur tribe in this province. In the past centuries, various ethnic groups, especially Turk tribes and nomads of Central Asia, the Mongols, a large number of Lur nomads as well as clans of Baloch people have migrated to different areas of Kerman province.

Kerman, Land of the Munificent
Although Kerman is a highly significant city from economic, agricultural, commercial and academic aspects, the key feature of this land is undoubtedly its hardworking, contented and friendly people. Throughout history, Kerman has always undergone major turmoil, but its tolerant people have always resisted hardships and have remained kind, munificent and hospitable.

The Weather
Average annual rainfall in Kerman is 132.4 mm, and Kerman has semi-dry climate with cold winters. This city is the fourth high province center of Iran after Shahrekord, Yasuj and Hamedan, and high altitude has led to the relative climatic moderation compared to other cities with identical climates in Iran. While the northern and northeastern parts of Kerman which are located in the vicinity of Saheb al-Zaman Mountains have a milder climate, the southern and western parts of the city have hotter summers due to their proximity to the desert, and the air is dustier.

Kerman Tourist Attractions
Kerman is a major historical province of Iran. It is the center of the southeast of Iran, and in a sense, it is the industrial, cultural, political, agricultural, academic-scientific, and religious reference of all the provinces of the southeast region of Iran. Kerman has over 660 registered national works, and is one of the historical provinces of Iran. Kerman has five historical sites registered in UNESCO's World Heritage List, and it ranks first in Iran in this regard. Some of Kerman's famous historical monuments include Ganjalikhan Square, Ganjalikhan Bazaar, Ganjalikhan Bathhouse (Museum of Anthropology), Vakil Hammam, Jabaliyeh Historical Dome, and Anahita Fire Temple. Moreover, Qaem Pardisan Jungle, Shahzadeh Mahan Historical Garden, Fat'h Abad Garden and Shangestan Valley are some of the natural attractions of Kerman. Interestingly, the largest ski resort of the southeast of Iran, i.e., the local ski resort of Sirch, is located in Kerman. It is situated next to the desert and in the heights of Sirch, only one hour away from Gandom Beryan hills, the hottest zone in the world. This ski resort is a site for winter recreation of Kerman people, as well as tourists and travelers, and this is why Kerman is the land of natural contrasts and tourism wonders.

Foods and Souvenirs of Kerman
Abgoosht-e Bademjan va Kashk, Abgoosht-e Zireh, Boz-ghormeh Abgoosht, Kalehjoosh, Amaj Aush, wheat and milk Aush, caraway pilaf, rice with split chickpeas and caraway, quince and prune stew and cherry plum stew constitute only a small part of Kerman's diverse food culture. Some of Kerman's famous desserts and sweets include Khorma Changmal (local bread with dates), Aab Roghanou, Kolompeh, Kerman Qottab, Qaout, Sehan Komach, Bereshtouk, Kerman Faloodeh, Pistachio Halva and Zarand Sohan. Dates and pistachios of Kerman are garden products of Kerman with worldwide fame, and Kerman citrus fruits and walnuts are also highly popular. Apart from its souvenirs to eat, Kerman owns some of the most important handicrafts of Iran, and Kerman carpet is perhaps one of the significant types of carpets of Iran. Pateh Doozi (wool fabric needlework), Shirikipich Gilim making, Khorjin-Bafi (saddlebag weaving), Gabr doozi and copper dishes and decorative objects are other famous handicrafts of Kerman.

Life in Kerman
Kerman, located in the largest province of Iran, is a developing metropolis, and is one of the best cities in the southeast region of Iran in terms of welfare, medical, recreational and educational facilities and historical and natural sites. Kerman plays a pivotal role in agriculture and major mineral industries such as copper, cement and coal, and ranks first in the field of mines in Iran. All these factors make Kerman a desirable city for work, life and education. The average rent of a seventy-meter house in Kerman in 2023 is 6,900,000 Tomans per month.

Transportation
Mahan Air International Company belongs to Kerman and was introduced to the world from Kerman in 1992, and flights from Kerman to all parts of Iran and the world are carried out on a daily basis. Kerman metropolis also has active bus and taxi lines, and the number of buses in Kerman's bus system is more than 300. Because of its singular location, Kerman has had railway since 1977, and today, a great number of passengers travel by train. Also, thanks to the growing expansion of Kerman and the extent and volume of traffic in this city, Kerman's subway construction project is underway.

Universities and Educational Centers
Some of the universities of Kerman include Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman, Kerman University of Medical Sciences, Kerman Graduate University of Industry and Advanced Technology, Islamic Azad University of Kerman and Shahid Chamran Technical University of Kerman. Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman has an international reputation in certain fields like mathematics.
